The M.S. Program in Science Education is designed primarily to increase the professional competency of science teachers and to provide the course work necessary to meet standards for advanced teaching certification. Available emphasis areas include Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Science, Mathematics, and Physics. The program is also designed to prepare two year and four year college instructors.
The Ph.D. Programs in Science Education with emphasis areas in Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Science, Mathematics, and Physics provide doctoral degrees in areas that prepare graduates for effective science and mathematics teaching at the community college and senior college levels, as well as careers in teacher education, informal science, or research in science or mathematics education.
