The Eagle's Nest Food Pantry provides on-campus resources for Southern Miss students and staff who are temporarily experiencing challenges accessing basic necessities, including food. The Eagle's Nest continuously accepts donations of non-perishable items, as well as monetary donations. Donations of the following items are urgently needed:

  • Spaghetti Noodles
  • Macaroni and Cheese
  • Canned Chicken
  • Canned Soups
  • Canned Beans
  • Crackers
  • Snack/Protein Bars
  • Canned Corn
  • Oatmeal
  • Jelly
  • Toilet Paper
  • Face Masks
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Tea/Bottled Water
  • Body Deodorant and Body Wash

To Donate or Volunteer

Donations can be dropped off at the Eagle’s Nest Food Pantry in The Hub basement (map) during hours of operation or at the Dean of Students office in the R.C. Cook Union, Room 220 (map).

Volunteers can pick up an information packet or email eaglesnestFREEMississippi.

Community Resources

The Long beach Food Pantry is located at 21081 Johnson Rd., Long Beach, MS 39560. They are open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM and can be reached directly at 228.861.1291

Southern Miss Gulf Park students can access the pantry by presenting their driver's license and USM ID. Students are permitted to visit once each month. This resource has refrigerated and frozen foods, as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. Students can reach out directly to this pantry to make an appointment. 

The Edwards Street Fellowship Center provides emergency and supplemental food to approximately 1,200 families in the Pine Belt area each month. They also operate a thrift store where clothing can be donated and purchased.

Petal Children's Taskforce donates monthly food assistance, school uniforms, and Thanksgiving/Christmas assistance. They also serve as an emergency food bank.
