Service-Learning Outcomes

As a result of service-learning activities, students will:  

  • become more interested in being a part of civic activities that address community challenges.
  • believe they can make a difference in their community.
  • develop a stronger connection to the campus or community.
  • discover they can use their academic knowledge or professional experience to benefit the community.
  • feel more confident in their ability to work comfortably with individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, culture, social class, or disability.
  • gain a deeper understanding of course content.
  • have an opportunity to evaluate their intended career choice.
  • learn more about how they want to engage with community and civic activities in the future.
  • learn skills or knowledge to apply to future endeavors.
  • understand more about important challenges faced by people and/or organizations in their community.
