What Will I Learn?

As you become proficient in hydrographic survey methods, you'll measure and describe the physical features of oceans and waterways.

You'll learn about or engage in:

  • data analysis
  • geographic information systems (GIS)
  • Hands-on experience aboard research vessels
  • Hands-on Experience: With a focus on hands-on experiences, you'll get the chance to work on cutting-edge projects alongside experienced faculty. These research projects often involve the use of advanced hydrographic equipment and technology, preparing you for real-world applications.
  • Pursuing a Masters: If graduating with a B.S Marine Science (Hydrograhy), you'll have an excellent pathway to continue your education and engage in advanced research through USM's Hydrographic Science MS program. It offers a comprehensive curriculum that builds on your undergraduate knowledge and provides specialized training in hydrographic science.
