Dr. Shannon Campbell is the Director of the Trent Lott National Center for Economic Development and Entrepreneurship at The University of Southern Mississippi. She is responsible for all facets of economic development such as administering economic impact studies, creating strategic partnerships, and connecting business and industry with expertise offered by the university. Prior to joining Southern Miss, Campbell worked for seventeen years at Jones County Junior College where she served in various administrative roles including Dean of Liberal Arts. Campbell’s experience working in private sector employment includes five years in manufacturing as a quality engineer and over twenty years of small business ownership. She served for five years on the Covington County Economic Development Authority. Campbell holds an Industrial Engineering degree, Workforce Development Master’s degree and International Development doctorate. Most recently, Campbell passed the certification exam to become a Project Management Professional.
