CUBEnet
USM has wired the Gulf of Mexico with relocatable environmental and oceanographic tools critical for testing and performance evaluation of uncrewed maritime systems (UMS). The capabilities of UMS can be demonstrated, tested, and evaluated in an area with a broad range of oceanographic, acoustic propagation and environmental variabilities. The deployed measurement nodes consist of a wave rider buoy system, an ocean meteorological buoy, and a subsurface ambient noise and CTD mooring. The capability to create a four-dimensional ocean cube supports comprehensive understanding and predictive modeling of the surface and subsurface environments in the northern Gulf of Mexico.
