Mississippi Philosophical Association Meeting Set for Feb. 14-15 on Hattiesburg Campus

The Mississippi Philosophical Association (MPA) will hold its annual meeting on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14-15 at The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus. The theme for this year’s two-day event is “Making Philosophy Pop” and will feature multiple speakers giving talks on philosophy’s intersection with popular culture. Southern Miss faculty, staff and students are invited to attend.

Dr. Dominic McIver Lopes, University Killam professor at The University of British Columbia, will give the annual meeting’s keynote address on Friday, Feb. 14 at 4:30 p.m. His presentation, titled “AI Art and Artists: What They Are, What They Could Be, What They Should Be” will be held in Gonzales Auditorium (room 108) in the Liberal Arts Building, located at 1999 Pearl St. Lopes’ talk, sponsored with generous funding through the Mississippi Humanities Council, is free and open to the public.
