Philosophy and Religion Forum Returns for Fall 2024

Interfaith encounters, philosophical perspectives on kindness, and the intersections of science and political ideology will be among the topics covered when the Philosophy and Religion Forum Series begins Sept. 18 at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM). 

  • Sept. 18, 6:30 p.m. on Zoom: Dr. Youshaa Patel, associate professor of religion at Lafayette University presenting “Not Like Us: How Muslim Interfaith Encounters Shaped Islam”
  • Oct. 15, 6:30 p.m. on Zoom: Dr. Cheshire Calhoun, professor of philosophy at Arizona State University, presenting “Kindnesses” 
  • Nov. 13, 6:30 p.m., Gonzales Auditorium in the Liberal Arts Building: Dr. Mark Risjord, professor of philosophy at Emory University, presenting “Evidence and Ideology: ‘Thick Concepts’ and the Role of Political Values in Scientific Inquiry”
