USM University Police Open Web Portal for Public Feedback

The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) University Police Department (UPD) is seeking input from members of the community through a web portal regarding its quality of service or other information relevant to its accreditation process through the Commission on Accreditation for Law enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®).
The portal may be accessed here. The portal will remain accessible for 60 days.
The purpose of CALEA Accreditation is to establish a foundation within public safety agencies that focuses on achieving the best outcomes for the delivery of services. Consistent internal and external review, combined with third-party validation of an agency’s policies and procedures, is critical in the delivery of high-quality public safety services and promotes accountability.
The commission's state-of-the-art standards are part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation, widely considered among law enforcement agencies as a highly valued recognition of public safety professional excellence. UPD was first recognized by CALEA in 2005 and earned its first accreditation in 2009. In 2022, it was recognized with accreditation for the fifth time.
