Spring 2023 Philosophy and Religion Online Forum Schedule Concludes April 3 with Presentation by Gayle Rubin

The Philosophy and Religion Online Forum Series at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) will conclude its spring 2023 lineup of programming with Dr. Gayle S. Rubin, who will present “A Short History of Perversion: Taxonomies of Sexual Misconduct 1880-1980.” Monday, April 3, at 6:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required for this online event, which can be done by emailing Philosophy and Religion Online Forum Coordinator Dr. Amy Slagle at a.slagle@usm.edu.
Dr. Rubin is a University of Michigan associate professor of anthropology and women’s studies. She is the author of a series of groundbreaking articles on the politics of sex and gender (collected in Deviations, 2012) and an anthropological study of gay leathermen in San Francisco (entitled Valley of the Kings, forthcoming). Her teaching includes classes on “Sex Panics,” “Sex and the City,” and graduate seminars such as “Sexological Theories: From Krafft-Ebbing to Foucault” and “The Feminist Sex Wars.”
