The University of Southern Mississippi’s (USM) Master of Business Administration (MBA) program has received lofty recognition in rankings recently released by online resource guide Fortune Education.
In its Best Accelerated Online MBA Programs, Fortune Education ranked USM No. 20 nationally. Programs that required 36 or fewer course credits to be completed for graduation were included in the rankings.
“This prestigious ranking is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and most importantly, our exceptional students. We are committed to providing an innovative and transformative learning experience that equips our graduates with the skills and knowledge to thrive in the rapidly evolving business landscape,” said Dr. Bret Becton, Dean of USM’s College of Business and Economic Development.
Added Becton: “This recognition affirms our commitment to excellence and motivates us to continue pushing boundaries, embracing change, and fostering a community of forward-thinking leaders. We celebrate this milestone as a stepping stone towards even greater achievements, as we strive to shape the future of business education."
At USM, the requirement to provide a GMAT or GRE scores is indefinitely waived for all applicants to the online MBA program. However, the University will consider them with an application. International students must submit TOEFL scores. Last year, the average undergraduate GPA for incoming students was 3.3, and the acceptance rate into the university’s online program was 87.5%.
USM currently enrolls more than 130 students in its online MBA program, and the University’s one-year retention rate in 2022 was 87.4%. An extensive curriculum revision recently lowered the required credits to graduate from 33 credit hours to 30 credit hours.
Fortune Education also featured a listing of 10 Online MBA Programs that Cost Less Than $16,000. USM ranked No. 8 nationally at a cost of approximately $14,700 to complete the program for both in-state and out-of-state students. A total of 30 course credits are required to graduate.
A GMAT or GRE score is indefinitely waived for all applicants and three letters of recommendation are required to complete the application.
“Our MBA program offers students the flexibility to choose how fast they complete the degree and is an excellent value relative to similar programs. The faculty and staff have worked hard to build a valuable online experience for our students, and we are continuing to improve it. It’s gratifying to see the results of that work recognized in the new rankings,” said Dr. Steven Stelk, MBA Program Director.
