Six of The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) School of Music’s most gifted pianists, along with six other musical soloists, are headed to the USM Gulf Park Campus in Long Beach to deliver a much-anticipated concert. The program, entitled A Musical Kaleidoscope, takes place Wednesday, March 29 at 7 p.m. in Fleming Auditorium; the concert is free to the public.
The Collaborative Piano Program at USM is an incredibly diverse and animated program of aspiring professional musicians. Led by Dr. Michael Bunchman, the program strengthens the community and raises the performance standards in the state. When speaking of the program and the upcoming event, Bunchman said, “A true Collaborative Piano Program is woven throughout the fabric of a School of Music, with its constituents working as a team to help better support the other musicians in the school and improve their overall standard of performance. I am very proud of the Collaborative Piano studio and excited for them to share their talents with the Gulf Coast community.”
The word kaleidoscope is a Greek word that means “observer of beautiful things.” Just as a kaleidoscope provides an array of stunning color combinations for its viewer, this eclectic program features music of varying styles with countless beautiful perspectives. Don’t miss this opportunity to observe the beauty and hear music by Poulenc, Rachmaninoff, Schumann, Debussy, and more!
All are invited to an evening of marvelous music, performed by collaborative pianists Xi Lu, Qianyu Chen, Alison Post, Megan Rowan, Yuecheng Lu, Dongwook Cheon, and Nick Joslin, along with six other musical colleagues. A Musical Kaleidoscope is brought to you by the Ambassador Series, a cultural outreach project of the USM Gulf Park campus.
