Members of The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Gulf Park Campus community enjoyed the beautiful fall weather underneath the oak trees and chimney pavilion during the annual Harvest Picnic, held Nov. 2, presented by the Office of Student Engagement.

Jessica Langston, director of Student Engagement and Strategic Initiatives, said the event put on by Student Affairs is a popular event at Gulf Park.

“We love to see all of our students come outside of the classroom and interact with their peers, faculty and staff,” said Langston. “Over the years, this has helped build the community we have at Gulf Park.”

The event began with music and free Southern Miss gear for students. Faculty, staff, and students engaged in tug-of-war games. Hot dogs, salad, and a food truck, provided by Denny Wayne’s Food Truck and Aramark, were perfect additions to the brisk fall day.

Rylie Reynolds, a junior at Gulf Park majoring in psychology, enjoyed the festivities with her classmates.

“The picnic was really fun,” Reynolds said. “You don’t get to see everyone come together all of the time, and it’s nice to have the faculty and staff joining in as well.”

The Gulf Park Pantry was also accepting donations and collecting food items during the event to stock up for USM students.
