The University of Southern Mississippi’s (USM) Southern Opera and Musical Theater Company closes the 2023 season with Mozart’s comedy, “Cosi fan tutte” Thursday, March 30 and Saturday, April 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Mannoni Performing Arts Center Auditorium. This special concertized performance of the opera will be sung in Italian with English supertitles. Tickets are available at the Southern Miss Ticket Office.
The humorous production tells the story of two young soldiers who make a bet that their fiancées will remain faithful to them even in the face of temptation. As a result, a manner of hilarious miscommunications, awkward situations, and emotional scenarios ensue. Will the young ladies prove faithful, or will they give in to temptation? Will they turn the tables and play a trick on their men?
“Audiences have come to love this show, making it a classic in the regular productions of many opera companies worldwide,” said Dr. Jonathan Yarrington, a voice professor in the USM School of Music who serves as director and narrator of the production. “With beautiful and clever sets by Wes Hanson and detailed costumes by Tammy Mansfield, this is a beautiful production to see and hear.”
Tickets are available through the Southern Miss Ticket website, or by calling 601-266-5418 or 800-844-8425.
