STEMed Speaker Series Begins Feb. 10 at USM

The Center for Science and Mathematics Education at The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) has organized an impressive lineup of guest lecturers as part of the Spring 2022 STEMed Speaker Series. Each of the events will be held from Noon to 1 p.m. and 100 percent online via Zoom.
The STEMed Speaker Series was introduced in fall 2019. Prior to each semester the CSME faculty review potential speakers and the related expertise they can share with the USM community.
The series kicks off on Thursday, Feb. 10 with an address by Dr. David Uttal, Professor at Northwestern University. His presentation is titled: “Spatial Thinking & Cognition.”
Other scheduled speakers include:
- Feb. 22 – Dr. Gary Stager, consultant at Education Design International, “Tech in STEM.”
- March 8 – Dr. Jennifer Adams, Canada Research Chair and Associate Professor at the University of Calgary, “Black Teachers in STEM.”
- March 31 – Dr. Albert Rodriquez, Distinguished Professor at the University of Houston, “STEM & Cultural Meaning.”
- April 14 – Dr. Terrell Morton, Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri, “Black Identity in STEMed.”
