University of Southern Mississippi (USM) assistant professor of history Dr. Joseph Peterson, in a piece published recently in the Washington Post, compares right-wing Americans' current fascination with Hungary to the time Americans in the 19th century "fell in love with another Hungarian leader, Lajos Kossuth," for whom the Mississippi town Kossuth is named.
