The Southern Miss Symphony Orchestra is committed to a diverse student body in its
orchestra program. We believe that lives and music are enriched by the mix of cultures
that we nurture in our orchestra program. The Southern Miss Symphony Orchestra regularly
has students from more than 10 different countries among its musicians.
Scholarships and Assistantships Available
- Scholarships up to full tuition available for all orchestra students based on audition. A $10,624 value! (Additional awards for housing and meals available for eligible students)
- Graduate Assistantships with stipends available for graduate students. Assistantships cover full tuition plus a $7,200 stipend! A $17,824 value!
International Students
- English Language Institute full tuition and fees scholarships for every ELI student. An $11,000 value! (Additional awards for housing and meals available for eligible students)
- Sponsorship level for 2018-2019: $22,500 (Scholarship award included in this amount)
- Required Health Insurance for 2018-2019: $2,040
International students may enter Southern Miss either directly as a student in any of our music degree programs, or they may enter the English Language Institute (ELI) on our campus, then enter the university upon completing the ELI program and obtaining the required TOEFL or IELTS score. Students must also be accepted into a degree program through an audition for the appropriate faculty.
