Bio
Jeferson Lopez Sarmiento was born in Lima, Peru. He is a pianist, teacher, composer, and recorder player. In 2021, he received his bachelor’s degree in piano performance from the Universidad Nacional de Música del Perú. At the end of his studies, he was hired by the University. Additionally, he also specializes in the recorder and Baroque music. He is a second year master’s student in piano performance at USM, and studies with Dr. Ellen Elder.

- As a teacher, he has training in the Shinichi Suzuki method. He has taught in primary schools, middle schools, and music academies and has experience teaching students from age five to adults.
- As a pianist, he has participated in several competitions, festivals, and concerts in Chile, Colombia, Peru, and the United States. He was the winner of the Pianissimo Competition in Colombia, and received second prize in the Mississippi Music Teachers Association Graduate Solo Collegiate Competition
