Bio
Jon Mark Weathers serves as General Counsel for The University of Southern Mississippi.
Following his graduation from law school, Mr. Weathers served as district attorney for the 12th Judicial District from 1976 to 1980. After leaving the district attorney’s office, Mr. Weathers was in independent practice for 23 years. In 2003 he returned to the District Attorney’s Office where he served until November of 2010 when he joined the University of Southern Mississippi as its first General Counsel. He was USM’s General Counsel from 2010 until December 31, 2015. In January of 2016, he began an eight-year terms as a circuit judge in the 12th Judicial District.
Mr. Weathers received his associates degree from Pearl River Community College, his undergraduate degree from The University of Southern Mississippi in 1970, and his Juris Doctorate from University of Mississippi Law School in 1972. He was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1973. Currently, he remains a member of the Mississippi Bar Association, South Central Mississippi Bar Association and the National Association of College and University Attorneys. He is a Fellow of the Mississippi Bar Foundation, an Advocate of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.”
