Social Work Licensure Programs
Social work licensure
Obtaining a social work license requires obtaining one of the following degrees:
- Bachelors in Social Work
- Masters in Social Work
- Passage of a Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) exam (for more information see https://www.aswb.org/)
- Completion of supervised clinical practice hours (to the level required)
- Application to the state licensing board
- State licensing boards may have distinct requirements regarding education, experience and examination, including relative to the level of licensure.
USM offers the following two Social Work programs:

Professional Licensure Disclosure
The University of Southern Mississippi School of Social Work curriculum is designed
to help prepare students to sit for the professional licensure exam for Mississippi.
Students seeking licensure in another state are advised to contact the appropriate
licensing board in that state or protectorate to determine specific requirements of
guidelines for licensure/state certification.
