Each year during the month of May, the Office of Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement pays tribute to the generation of Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched America’s history and are instrumental in its future success.
For this celebration, we refer “Asian/Pacific” to encompass all of the Asian continent and the Pacific islands of Melanesia (New Guinea, New Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji and the Solomon Islands), Micronesia (Marianas, Guam, Wake Island, Palau, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru and the Federated States of Micronesia) and Polynesia (New Zealand, Hawaiian Islands, Rotuma, Midway Islands, Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Easter Island).

The goal of Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month is to give students access to events and information to help them become more culturally aware and competent with regard to the Asian America & Pacific Islander community and prominent figures and moments in the history and culture. By providing events centered on educational, social, and cultural aspects related to AAPI Month, we hope to help those from other backgrounds learn more about and become advocates for the AAPI community.
